I created a clay rope basket for my second clay project. I used texture on the leaves of the ivy and I like how the green really pops in front of the glossy white basket. This is my favorite of my clay projects.
I created a clay flower and feather for this project. I used the elements and principles of texture, form, and depth. I like how the texture on the feather contrasted the smoothness of the flower.
I chose to make a sculpture of a pelican for the project. I had a hard time deciding how to make the feathers but I ended up using paper and white feathers combined. It was tedious but worth it because it turned out really well.
I chose the flower "Rue Anemone" to paint. I ended up running into trouble with the masking material and the watercolor went through. I feel like I could've done a neater job with the flowers themselves, but I really like the contrast in the dark background because it makes the white petals pop. If I were to do this again I would also be more consistent with the green paint for the leaves.
I chose the book "the girl in the tangerine scarf" for my book title project. I chose it because I imagined many possibilities of how to draw it. I ended up drawing a girl silk dancing. I like how mine turned out with the soft colors and contrast between the graphite figure and colorful scarf. It makes the tangerine color pop.
I created this project with the idea of representing things that mean a lot to my best friend, Rebekah, and I. Rebekah moved to Colorado in the summer of 2016 and I realized the approximate midpoint between our cities is St Loius, Missouri. It just so happens that "The Gateway to the West" AKA the St. Louis arch is located in that same city.
I decided to construct an arch out of cardboard to represent this landmark and collage photos of my favorite things on one side, and my best friends favorite tings on the other. They meet in the middle with things that we both like. Constructing the arch was a challenge, but really helped me learn to persevere. I started out with paper trying to create a net that would fold up to a triangular arch. It took trials and errors but I finally got it close to what I wanted it to look like. I then traced it onto cardboard, cut it out, and wrapped masking tape around it to secure it together. The first arch was too small so I ended up making another using the same teqnique but tweaking it to better represent the actual arch. In this project I experimented with the pricipals of Variety, and balance. I learned to take time to perfect my technique. I am very happy with the finished arch. I made a mixed media portrait of my face using collage. The reason I used black and white on the face had no significance except to create contrast against the colorful background. I'm glad I used bright colors because it represents my bubbly, colorful personality. I am really happy with this piece because it had me use different mediums and inspired me to experiment more.

Hacks: (All of these are hacks I've never seen on the internet before thought up by me!)
It even passed the dress test!!! It's officially a true life hack now! That's all for today but I have some ideas for more posts so lets hope I post sometime soon...
XOXO- Juliette I'm so sorry I haven't posted in so long! You're probably wondering what I've been doing... Well I went on a 3 day retreat last weekend in Ohio, and I'm now in the Outer banks of North Carolina with my family. But don't worry We've taken a lot of fun pictures for y'all to look at ; ) Sorry this was such a short post. There's more to come!
Xoxo- Juliette At the beginning of the summer I had a online Sephora shopping spree. Today I've picked out some of my favorites to share with you. : ) Blotting Papers- These mattifying blotting papers I bought from Sephora work magic. I use them right after I apply my favorite liquid foundation to keep my face oil-free. The Professional Primer & TarteGuard Sunscreen SPF 30 These are my two favorite skin products for summer. The Porefessional: Its an amazing primer that is very smooth and erases pores for a flawless finish. TarteGuard Sunscreen SPF 30: Now this was definitely a splurge, but I was looking for a non-oily sunscreen that smelled good. This was the perfect choice. It absorbs quickly and smells great. Although it's very pricey, I just use it on the spots that tend to get burnt easily. Escada "Turquoise Summer" Perfume I actually bought this perfume at Ulta but I bet you could find it at Sephora too. It's the perfect perfume for summer and it smells amazing. It has a summery, sweet, and kind of beachy scent. It's only sold for a limited time so if you want to try it out you should go for it soon. Tarte Cheek Stain in "Muse" This cheek stain is the real deal. I have a few other colors too. All of them are waterproof and so easy to apply. This is my favorite of the colors I got. It's not too bright but still adds a gorgeous pop of color to the apples of your cheeks. Bath and Body Works "Honolulu Sun" Hand Sanitizer I bought this hand sanitizer at Bath and Body Works a while ago, and since then I've checked to see if they have any other products in this scent. It made me so sad to see that they don't carry a line of body sprays/lotions in this scent. However, They do have candles. So of course I ended up buying a three wick candle because I'm absolutely obsessed with the fragrance. It's very beachy and tropical smelling. It's as if you are at the beach. That being said I live like three hours form the closest beach... but this stuff smells so good and helps me get across the fact that I live nowhere near a beach ;) Not Your Mother's Beach Spray and Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Spray- This texturizing spray smells amazing and really does add a lot of texture to your hair. I use it on damp hair and scrunch it in to get an effortless beach waves look. It works like a charm : )
Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo- By now you should be able to tell i love tropical scents. This dry shampoo is the best I've used by far. It absorbs all the oils in the roots and is so easy to use. It also adds volume to your hair. It's great for a second day hair look, but of course you should still shower... :;) lol That's about it! I hope ya'll are enjoying your summer, and I hope to be posting again soon! XOXO- Juliette |
